Collection: What is Grass-Fed?

Most of the beef sold commercially is called grain-fed beef, and is raised differently.

1. Differences in what they eat (food)

Grain-fed beef is raised on high-calorie foods such as corn, barley, soybeans, and fish meal in order to grow larger in a shorter period of time and to give the cattle more fat and marbled texture.
In addition, the feed they eat may be produced using pesticides or genetically modified ingredients. What the cow eats becomes its blood, meat, and milk.

2. Differences in environment

Grain-fed beef is primarily raised in barns.
On the other hand, grass-fed beef is based on grazing, so the cows are constantly on the move searching for food, which means they get a lot of exercise, resulting in meat that is moderately firm. Also, because the cows can move around freely, they experience less stress.

What nutrients is grass-fed beef rich in?

Data shows that grass-fed beef is more active because it moves around freely, has less fat, has more lean red meat, and is highly nutritious. Red meat is rich in protein, lipids, vitamins, minerals, etc. Among minerals, iron in particular is heme iron, which is characterized by a higher absorption rate compared to non-heme iron. It also contains unsaturated fatty acids and is said to have a good balance of omega 6 and 3.

Grass-fed butter also contains a lot of carotene, which converts into vitamin A in the body. It also contains conjugated linoleic acid, a type of unsaturated fatty acid that has diet benefits, vitamin K2, and iron, making it a nutritious oil.

Texture and taste

・Texture and softness

Grass-fed cattle are raised on grass and wild plants, which are the natural food of cows.
Because pasture and wild plants are low in calories and protein, they grow slowly and have relatively little fat.
Some people who have eaten grass-fed beef say that it has a rich flavor and is pure, and that it is soft and smooth to the touch. However, if you are used to eating grain-fed beef, it may taste different to marbled beef, which has a soft texture and juicy flavor.

·odor

Grass-fed meat and milk can have a unique flavor and grass-like aroma, and in some cases can give the impression of game meat.

The products we are introducing this time are grass-fed and also free of hormones and antibiotics.
Some grain-fed beef contains antibiotics. Also, overseas, some beef is given hormones. Incidentally, the import of beef that has been given hormones or antibiotics is prohibited in the EU, but in Japan, although the use of hormones is prohibited domestically, there are no restrictions on imports.

Although it is different from grain-fed beef, this product is made from healthy cows that are raised without putting a strain on the environment, without the use of pesticides or genetic modification in their feed, and without the administration of drugs, and is also a nutritious food for the people who eat it. Please give it a try.
